Current areas of work

Members of the NZPT met and discussed what the priorities were for the rest of the year. The following areas were discussed as important to New Zealand Physiotherapists:

• Physiotherapists able to write ACC medical certificates for time off work.
• The delays in ACC processing entitlements.
• ACC surgery decision delays.
• ACC payments under the Costs of Regulations.
• The requirement for physiotherapists to be a member of PNZ to be under an ACC contract.

It was discussed that it would be better for the strained health system to allow physiotherapists to write ACC medical certificates. Physiotherapists have the training to be able to provide these certificates and these certificates would be more accessible to the public if physiotherapists could write them.

We will keep working on the above matters to better serve physiotherapists.
