Current Focuses

Access to care is a human right. ACC and the public system pay for providers to help patients. The current funding model is not working to help those that need physiotherapy the most. Physiotherapy is cost-effective and could significantly reduce the burden on hospitals, medical practices, and surgical centres.

The human and financial cost shifts of the struggling public system need to be improved. Physiotherapy is a big part of the solution, especially in the emergency rooms, prevention, and improved expedited recovery. Physiotherapists can decrease patient stays in Hospitals.

Listening and then acting. If there is a concern that can be solved, we can act.

The Goodard Report still applies (pdf in News tab).

ACC and the public system would benefit by physiotherapists providing fully funded orthotic treatment and some medications.

Improving patient and whanau-centric care under various contracts.

Increasing the duration that physiotherapists will stay in the profession.
