Members of the Trust met with Kate Jerram on 9 November 2023

Kate Jerram was a Clinical Advisor for ACC and started with ACC around five years ago started. She is now a Health Partner for ACC looking after Physiotherapy matters. She is three weeks into the role and is filling in for Cody who is on maternity leave. She has been a physiotherapist for around 28 years and worked in the Occupational Health space.

A few of the matter discussed were:

  • What physiotherapy codes should ACC use. These have changed and a list of codes are available online. See Using the right read code (acc.co.nz)
  • Pain is a symptom and may be considered a symptom of a psychiatric diagnosis that qualifies as a mental injury under the AC Act.
  • The Next Generation case management system has created issues. ACC is working on these issues and is implementing changes such as one-on-one case management system especially if the claimant is on weekly compensation.
  • The Trust brough up many issues, such as discontinuous rehabilitation when a patient is on different ACC programmes, physiotherapists writing medical certificates and physiotherapy scopes of practice.

Kate Jerram heard our concerns and will try to make sure that physiotherapy concerns are heard.
